Light in, on & above RC Paper

2000
Photo Installation

I started to develop an interest in the phenomenon of light at Ryerson University – School of Image Arts. Inspired by Joseph Kosuth’s early work One and Three Chairs, this work, capturing light through a 4 by 5 camera, is set as a triptych with the title:

Light in Resin-coated Paper
Light on Resin-coated Paper
Light above Resin-coated Paper

Each part of the triptych looks identical. All essentially blank, the first shows light as exposed and recorded in the resin-coated paper by photographic processes, the second registers light reflected on the resin-coated paper to make the object visible to our eyes, the last refers to the reflection of the viewer as an integral part of the work.
