2015
Theatre sequence with participatory content
Tell Bamboo Your Imagination was a participatory art process designed for the context of the MaD Forum 2015. Conveying the overarching theme of “Village Reimagined”, the process started with a multimedia stage episode: the revolving stage of the Kwai Tsing Theatre was transformed into a rotational device for an animation sequence, which brought the audience to enter the imaginatively village on a train travelling through a bamboo grove. While participants attended different talk based activities on the subsequent days, they were invited to contemplate on the content with “bamboo slips” – pieces of hand-crafted bamboo, each containing an evocative object as a prompt. Their thoughts, written or drawn on these slips, formed the basis of a concluding theatre piece at the event’s closing.
